Don’t you just love the feeling of a good book? I bought some new books last month and they came from the UK and from somewhere in the US so I had to wait almost a month before they finally arrived. WORTH . THE . WAIT ! When I read, I don’t just read the words that are printed on that page in front of me. I disappear into the story. I see the location in my head and I see the people and I don’t read it like a dialogue, in my mind, I see the characters interact. I see the expression on their faces and the way they lean in or pull back at certain moments. But not with every book. If I am reading and I get distracted real easy, it’s not a good book to me. If I can literally zone out and be unaware of what’s happening around me, it’s a good book. It has to suck me in. Shopping online for a good book is always tricky; they only give you the description on the back and that’s pretty much all the information you’ll have to decide if you want to buy the book… or not. That’s why I love bookstores. The ones with dimmed light and an endless number of books to choose from… I still haven’t found one of those here in Holland. We have libraries and the bookstores we have are just… cold. Look at that picture. That right there isn’t a place where I want to spend my afternoon, flipping through pages until I find a book that feels like it’s been written for me personally. Don’t even think about me ever buying an e-reader! The whole point about reading is to let your imagination run wild and to do something else than looking at a screen, I mean, we do nothing else all day. The first thing we do is check our phone, for what? Everybody who might be texting you was sleeping too… but whatever. We work behind computers and laptops, we spend our free time looking at a TV or a tablet and there is our phone again, glued to our hands… picking up a book makes me miss calls and ‘ignore’ texts. I love not hearing the sound of the TV or radio. That feeling of flipping page after page and saying ‘last one’ in your mind after every turn but realizing you’ve been saying that for the last 40 pages or that you should’ve gone to sleep an hour and a half ago instead of reading just one more page. Last year I bought a book and I knew I had to go to sleep but I couldn’t put it down. It arrived in the afternoon and I was so curious so I started reading immediately. Back then my daughter took an afternoon nap so I put her in bed and I kept reading. When she woke up I couldn’t put the book down so I put a DVD in the DVD-player and let her watch a movie so I could read just a little longer. I made dinner with the book next to me on the counter. After I put her in bed at night I rushed back to the couch to read some more. I lost track of time and when I realized I had just read the last words I looked at the clock, to see that it was 2.30 AM. I had to get up at 6.30. But I felt energized, that book was so good I didn’t mind losing sleep over it. This was supposed to be a weekly special, a short explanation on why I’m so happy with my books… 622 words and counting. Let me stop right here. I think it’s just the passion I have for reading and writing that is causing this… what should I call it? These are the books I bought, excited to get to them: - Derrick Jaxn - a cheating man's heart 2 - Derrick Jaxn - I still want it - Chiidozie E. Osuwa - What she feels - Horacio Jones - Broken vision If you have a couple of good books at home or you know a good title, please please please share it with me. I’m running out of books to read (not really :p). Also, please share your weekly special with me. Twitter/Instagram @uGottaLoveAimee

Oh how I love social media. If it wasn't for Instagram I don't think I would have ever seen this picture.
This is a time lapse photo of hundreds of sunsets. I think it looks like a painting. I love it. I googled it and there are so many of these pictures. This is my weekly special, what is yours? Show it to me on Twitter/Instagram @uGottaLoveAimee. Don't forget to let me know what you think about this. ;) So, I saw this picture on Instagram a while ago but thought it was photo shopped. I saw it again last week and I decided to do some research.
I looked at some video's on YouTube and I looked up some information. Way to much to share but this is fascinating. But those people in Florida, they witness pretty much all nature related surprises. I don't know if it's a good thing... :P I think this picture explains it a little bit. What do you think about this? Have you witnessed anything like this? If you have the time, look it up on YouTube and see for yourself. Please share your weekly with me and you might see it here next week. Tag me on Twitter or Instagram @uGottaLoveAimee I'll just let you think about this.
Can you come up with 'other ways' to write other words? Share in the comments. Show me your weekly special on Twitter or Instagram by tagging me @uGottaLoveAimee and you might see it here next week ;) After I watched 'Sleeping Beauty' with my daughter I decided to watch the movies before I let her watch it.
So since she has been watching 'Frozen' every other day for the last two weeks, I wanted to check out some other movies, the original Disney movies so she can watch them (read: so she has something else to watch and I can stop singing 'Let It Go' all day). But it kinda became for my own entertainment after I watched Mulan. I've watched Aladdin, Pocahontas, Hercules, Lilo and Stitch, Cinderella, Princess Diaries, the Hunchback of Notre Dame I & II. The thing I noticed is that most of these are not for young children. 'the Hunchback of Notre Dame I' kinda scared me in some scenes. Maybe I'm overreacting but I won't let my child watch this until she's a little older. But I grew up watching all of the disney movies and I turned out ok. Anyway. Where am I going with this? I love Disney. I'm almost 23 and I go to bed at 8.30PM with my laptop and a cup of tea (next month it will be hot chocolate) so I can watch a Disney movie, maybe even two. I guess I'll never be too old for Disney. (There's always an excuse: Now I watch them for my kid. In a while it's because we watch them together. and years and years after that, when I'm in my 50's it's because my grandchildren will want to see what grandma watched when she was 5. ^^ oohhh, I'm good :p) I have love for Disney, can you tell ;) It makes me all goofy and happy. Aaaand all the movies have good messages!! Look at these: What's your favorite Disney Movie? |
